OBITUARY: 

HIGGINS - At her home near Zena, Polk county, Thursday, January 28, 1897, Mrs. Susan Higgins, aged 75 years, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Susan Higgins was born in Fayette, Maine, in 1822, died at her home Zena, Oregon, on January 28, 1897 of heart trouble. Mrs. Higgins was married to Seldon Higgins on November 15, 1849, at her home in Maine. Came to Oregon in 1851 and settled on their donation land claim near Zena, where she continued to reside to the time of her death, her husband having preceeded her by nine years. There were born to this union six children, two sons and four daughters, namely, Mrs. A. S. Walker of Springfield, Oregon, J. S. Higgins, of Eugene, Or. Mrs. C. W. Anderson, of Rockford, Washington, Mrs. Susie Smith, Ed. C. Higgins, and Miss Ida residing with their mother at Zena.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning from the late residence at 11 o'clock.
