OBITUARY: 

Gilbert Jackson Bevens, 80, who has spent his entire life in Polk county, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs Golda Trueax, at Pedee on Saturday. Funeral services were held in the Henkle and Bollman chapel Tuesday afternoon with interment following in the Womer cemetery at Pedee. Mr Bevens was born on October 21, 1866, at Airlie, the son of Truman and Mary Bevens. On December 2, 1887, he was married to Nancy Crowly at Airlie. He was a farmer and logger. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Jesie Edwards of Philomath, Mrs Velna Edwards of Monmouth and Mrs Trueax of Pedee; two brothers, Manly of Dallas and Hutch of Airlie; one sister, Mrs Melia Hastings of Albany; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
