OBITUARY: 

Kenneth Maxwell Bennett, 74, 14500 Kings Valley Highway, Monmouth, died in Corvallis Feb 7. He was born on Jan 9, 1914, in Plainview, Ore, the son of William and Nora Anderson Bennett. On Sept 6, 1936, he married Ruby Lyday in Hoskins. They lived in the Hoskins and Kings Valley area where Mr. Bennett was a logger. They have lived in the Pedee area since 1944. 
Mr. Bennett served in the Seabees during World War II. He was the Chief Engineer of the Marine Science Center Ship, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Corvallis. Surviving are his wife, Ruby; sons, Pete of Monmouth , and Charlie of Oxnard, Calif; daughter, Michelle Mahana of Kings Valley; brothers, L.E. “Bud” Bennett of Monmouth, Don Bennett of Klamath, Calif, and Bob Bennett of Juneau, Alaska, along with 10 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Funeral services will be today (Wednesday), Feb 10, at 11 am in the Dallas Mortuary Chapel with the Rev Robert Trosen officiating and interment in the Womer cemetery at Pedee. Those who desire may contribute to the Pedee Fire Department in his memory.
