1940 CA CENSUS - Lucie M. Thompson (49y, b Missouri, living in same house in 1935) enumerated with husband Charles A. (60y, b Iowa, occupation painter and paper hanger, living in same house in 1935); also with family was step-son [of Charles] W. Theron Polston (26y, b Missouri, living at Ames, Storey co, Iowa in 1935) and mother-in-law [of Charles] Edna E. Brown (78y, b Illinois, widowed, living at Arlington, Riverside Co, California in 1935)

OBITUARY: 

Funeral services were held at the Bollman Fuenral Home Wednesday, May 11 at 2 pm for Mary Lucia Smith, 75, with the Rev John F. Sills officiating. Born at Lockwood, Miss, May 20, 1890, daughter of John J. Brown and Edna E. Thaxion she lived there until 1924. She married William Henry Polston in 1909. Two children were born of the marriage. He died in 1917. She moved to Riverside, Calif, and married Charles A. Thompson in 1937. He died in 1944. She came to Pedee in 1945 and lived there until her death at the Bowerman Norsing Home Sunday, May 8. Survivors include a daughter, Lonella E. Kerber, Pedee; a daughter-in-law, Frances Harp, Anaheim, Calif; a sister, Dorothy N. Small, Eugene; two brothers, Edward T. Brown, Springfield, Mo; Stanley L. Brown, Hillsboro, Calif; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two nieces, five nephews, an aunt, Mrs Etta Brown, Anaheim, Calif. Interment was at Womer Cemetery, Pedee.
