OBITUARY:
The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Mary Ford, familiarly known as Aunt Polly, was born in Lincoln Co., Ohio, March 10, 1815. With her parents, John and Mark Cline, removed from Ohio to Illinois at the age of three years. Was married to James Ford in October 1830. They with their family crossed the plains to Oregon in 1853, and settled on the Little Luckiamute, where they remained in their quiet, peaceful home until the death of the husband by the accidental falling of a tree in June 1879, after which she remained at the old home with some of her children and grandchildren until her decease. Mrs. Ford, with her husband, united with the Baptist Church in the year 1868, of which church she, as well as her husband, remained a consistent member to the day of her death, May 3, 1882. She leaves five sons and one daughter and twenty-one grandchildren to mourn her loss. “Though dead she yet speaketh,” and her pure life is a beacon light attracting the bereaved ones to that city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
