OBITUARY:
Died of His Injuries
“Uncle Jimmy” Ford, who was mentioned last week as having been severely hurt by a limb of a tree falling on him, died of the injuries received on Thursday night, June 5th, at 11 o’clock. Mr Ford came to Oregon from Holinsback, Kendall county, Illinois, in 1853, and settled on the place on the Little Luckiamute, where his death occurred. At the time of his death he was aged 74 years, but up to the time he was hurt was remarkably hale and hearty. He was a man widely known and universally respected and in his death the community in which he lived has lost a kind neighbor and a good citizen. An aged wife and five sons and one daughter survive him, besides a large number of relatives, several of whom reside in this city, he being an uncle of Robert Ford and David Burns. On Saturday last his remains were conveyed to the cemetery near Lewisville and there laid to rest.
