The son of William and Frances Marks, well-known early pioneers of eastern Oregon, he was born at LaGrande, March 17, 1865. Afterward his sister, Mrs. Emma Orsborn made her home with Mr. Marks until she died in April 1936. In 1937 Mr. Marks sold his farm and retired to lead a less active life and since that time he has made his home with relatives in the sunny slope community west of town.
