MONMOUTH – Leonard Peters, a Monmouth resident, died May 7. He was 70. 
He was born Dec 9, 1920 in Rupert, Idaho, the son of Isaac and Anna Gossen Peters. 
He married Rosella Warkentin Sept 19, 1947, in Dallas. 
He served in the US Navy during World War II. 
He worked for Gerlinger Carrier Co. and farmed in the Monmouth area since 1956. 
He was a member of Evangelical Bible Church and the Gideons. He enjoyed farming and nature. 
He is survived by his wife Rosella Peters, Monmouth; son Jim Peters, Monmouth; daughters Janice Peters, Malawi, Africa; Joan Stutzman, Grants Pass; and Joyce Schierling, Salem; sisters Ruby Gonzales, Elmhurst, Ill; and Lily Trestenjak, Buffalo Grove, Ill; brother Harry Peters, Springfield; and five grandchildren. Services are at 10 am Saturday, May 18 at Evangelical Bible Church, 1175 SE Howe St, Dallas. The Rev Jerry Franz will officiate. Burial will be in Fir Crest Cemetery [sic; English Cemetery] under the direction of Dallas Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or AEF Missions in care of the church.
