1860 OR CENSUS - Beauregard Tarter, age 6, b. W. Territory, is enumerated with Robt Tartar [Tarter], age 56, occupation farmer, b. West Virginia, and Susan, age 41, b. Tennessee, along with Nichols, age 14, b. Oregon, Robt, age 12, b. Oregon, Henry, age 10, b. W. Territory, Sarah, age 4, b. W. Territory, Laura, age 2, b. W. Territory, and Francis, age 4 months, b. W. Territory.
DISCREPANCY - 1860 census record indicates he was born in Washington Territory, DC and obit gives Airlie, Oregon as his place of birth.
OBITUARY: 
Beauregard Tarter died suddenly at his home on Levens street shortly afternoon, Wednesday, November 2. He had been in failing health for some time. 
Mr. Tarter was born in Polk county, near Airlie, May 29, 1862, and had lived in that vicinity all his life until a year or so ago, when he purchased a home in Dallas and moved here. He was never married. 
Surviving relatives are two brothers, Nicholas Tarter of Corvallis, and Robert Tarter of Airlie, and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Williams of Albany, Mrs. Sarah Staats of Dallas, and Mrs. Laura Wiseman of Walla Walla, Wash. 
Funeral services will be held Friday, conducted by Rev Frank James and interment will be in the English cemetery, near Airlie.

DALLAS, Or., Nov. 5 ---(Special)--- Beauregard Tarter, a native of Polk County, died at his home in this city November 2. He had been in failing health for some time. About a year ago, he moved to Dallas from his farm in Airlie, where he had resided all his life.
Mr. Tarter was born May 29, 1862, and was never married. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Nicholas Tarter of Albany, Robert Tarter of Airlie, Mrs. Jennie Williams of Albany, Mrs. Sarah Staats of Dallas, and Mrs. Laura Wiseman of Walla Walla, Wash.
