OBITUARY: 

Asa C. Staats, pioneer native son of Polk county, passed away Monday morning at his home near Airlie. Mr Staats, who was born August 20, 1860, on the Airlie homestead, had spent his entire life there. He was married April 14, 1891, to Sarah E. Wilson, who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Edith, and two grandchildren, Fred Ray of Airlie and Orlena Lewis of Lewisville. One brother, C.E. Staats of Dallas, also survives. Funeral services were held at one o’clock Wednesday at the Henkle & Bollman chapel with burial in the English cemetery near Airlie. Six nephews of Mr Staats were the pallbearers at the funeral. They were: Tracy Staats, Dallas; Emmet Staats, Airlie; Roscoe Staats, Independence; Willie Staats, Salem; Walter Dalton, Albany, and Crosby Dalton, Eugene. Rev Dean Vermillion of Dallas conducted the services.
