OBITUARY: 

Vern W. Williams, 73, Portland, former resident of the Airlie area, died last week in a Roseburg hospital. 
A native of Airlie, he lived on the homestead of his parents William and America Williams for many years. He was employed for many years as investigator with the Federal Narcotics Bureau. He was a veteran of WWI. 
Surviving are the widow, Claire, and sons Duane and Vern Williams Jr, all of Portland. 
Services were held Thursday at Parmeter mortuary in Independence. Rev David Haberly officiated and interment followed at the English cemetery south of Monmouth.
