OBITUARY:
Mrs. H.R. Patterson of Corvallis, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hayter of Dallas, died in Corvallis July 11 after a brief illness attributed to a heart attack. Burial was Thursday, July 14, at the Embree family cemetery 3½ miles east of Dallas, following services that morning at the Good Samaritan Episcopal church in Corvallis. McHenry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and Father F. Neville officiated. Mrs. Patterson was born in Dallas April 19, 1890, first child of Mr. and Mrs. Hayter. She was christened Frank LaVerne Patterson as the father had made a vow when he was a boy when a younger brother Frank died of the terrible scourge of pioneer days – diphtheria – that he would name his first child after the brother. She was familiarly known as Frankie during her girlhood in the community. She married Henry R. Patterson of Corvallis June 30, 1910, and they had spent the past 50 years there, where he has been connected with Oregon State college for many years. They had no children. Surviving are the husband of Corvallis and one brother, Charles Hayter of Corvallis. Mrs. Bertha Hayter of Dallas is an aunt.
