Myra Bernadine Edwards, March 23, 1923-May 29, 2016

Myra Bernadine Edwards, 93, of Dallas, died May 29 in the Dallas Retirement Village. She was born to William Ray and Margaret Amelia Henrietta Stolk Jones in Lewisville. Bernadine grew up in the Pedee area. She was a member of the Monmouth High School graduating class of 1940. She worked in the hop fields where she met her husband to be. On March 27, 1942, she married Otto “Glen” Edwards in Vancouver, Wash. They lived in the Pedee area growing grain until 1962, and then they started raising sheep in 1963. After Glen died in 1973, Bernadine moved to Monmouth and started working at the Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University), in 1976 in the Dorm Food Service Center. She retired from the college and moved to Dallas. She loved flower gardening, collecting rocks, camping and fishing. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served many years as Worthy Matron. Survived by children Ronald R. (Zelma) Edwards of Dallas, Jodel “Jo” (G.I.) Wilson of Keizer, and Merrilee Edwards of Scottsdale, Ariz; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean Behrends of Vancouver, Wash. She was preceded in death by nine siblings. Services were held. Interment was in the Edwards Cemetery in Pedee.
