OBITUARY: 
John Munch, aged 80 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary V. Burch, at Rickreall, Friday June 18, following a lingering illness. 
Mr. Munch was born at Baden, Germany, December 12, 1845. He came to America May 18, 1867, and located in New Jersey. He was married to Wilhelmina Kleeman in that state in 1868. After coming to Oregon, Mr. Munch, who was an expert millwright and who specialized in building and operating flouring mills, assisted with the building of several of the most prominent flouring mills in this state, and on several occasions made trips to the Atlantic coast to purchase machinery for the same which he installed. 
Mr. Munch resided at Rickreall for several years but for some period of time has been residing with his son in Potland until a few weeks ago when he came to Rickreall for a visit with his daughter. 
Mr. Munch was one of the charter members of the A.O.U.W. lodge in Oregon. He was also a member of the St Ignatius Catholic Church of Portland. Being of a kind and gentle nature he was highly respected and loved by all who knew him. 
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Burch of Rickreall; a son, Ernest F. Munch, residing in Portland; and three grandsons, John T. Burch Jr of Lakeview, Melvin F. and Ernest F. Munch Jr., of Portland. Funeral services were held at the graveside in the Burch Cemetery at Rickreall, Saturday June 19, at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of A.L. Keeney, of Independence. Father J.E. Buck of St Joseph’s Catholic Church of Salem officiated.
